On 27th November, I was taken by ambulance from my GP's surgery to the Coronary Care Unit at KGH. Dr. Heatherington and his team were waiting for me and in no time I was on the table having three stents placed in my left coronary artery. I believe my arteries were quite badly blocked so it took a couple of hours to position them. During the procedure my heart stopped and had to be shocked back into life. i had to spend some days on the ward as my blood pressure and pulse rate were very low due to heart block.
Throughout I was given great care and close monitoring by all the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff. After a few days my pulse and BP were back to normal.
A month later I returned for a stent to be inserted into my right coronary artery but this was just a one-day job but the same great care was received.
I now lead a normal active life and can walk or cycle without chest pain or breathlessness.
When there is so much complaining about the NHS I feel I need to express my sincere thanks and extreme gratitude to my GP. the ambulance crew and all at KGH Coronary Care Unit for literally saving my life

My over all experience from seeing Mark is he has made me believe in myself again not to be a dormant and that I have choices that I can make and as a whole this has given me my life back as a normal human.
